This is an older shot from the Wallkill River NWR. 1D mark III, 500 f4, 2x teleconverter, iso 1250, f9, 1/2000, aperture priority. This day was overcast with just ambient light.

Strong impact on the viewer, effective cropping
Some mild noise showing throughout the image, but not objectionable for a film guy like me.
I love the detail in the small feathers on each side of the bill.

Super eye contact Herb. Not easy to track a BIF at 1000mm but it looks like you did a good job here. I might run a little extra sharpening on the bird.

Lovely eye contact and the pose is great..agree re sharpening the head.
