My version of Henbit to go along with prior posts by a couple of photographers. Taken indoors, natural light.
Nikon D300, 105mm macro, f16 ("Relative"), 1/2 sec., ISO 200, tripod.
PP: PS7 basic adjustments, Topaz Adjust to bring out some detail. crop right side, scrunched image width just a bit. I wish the very front flowers in the center were more in focus.

Hi Anita. I like the partial inclusion of the vase and the way you've positioned it in the frame. The flowers on the right side of the frame are looking good, but overall, this image is not working that well for me as my eye goes directly to the two OOF blossoms in the center of the image. This looks like it would be a good candidate for a focus stack - though I have yet to try that procedure myself. :S3:

Hi Anita.
I think you've done a good thing here by trying to get a larger view of this little flower. But that's really tough to do unless you use stacking of multiple images, or focus on a small part of the plant that is essentially in one plane. Thus it's not surprising that you and Steve have a bit of a problem with the two central blossoms.
I've fiddled around a bit with those blossoms in PS CS5, applying a small highlights adjustment in SH to tone down the image a bit and selecting the blossoms and adding modest selective smart sharpen to them. I also added control points to the two blossoms using Viveza 2, and adjusted the structure slider a bit. I also cloned out the small leaflet extending from the bottom of the main leaf. The result, for better or worse, is attached.
Beyond the central blossoms, my eyes are drawn too much to the truncated leaf on the left, the vase, and the stem going into it. I think I'd enjoy your flower even more without the vase.
Still, you have tackled a rough challenge and have done a good job at it. :S3:

Hey Anita, the comp looks good and I like the addition of the vase. Steve brought up the main problem with this....those OOF flowers in the center are drawing all the attention. These things are weeds so don't feel bad about removing flowers. I bet at f22 with those central flowers removed, this would have turned out great. :S3:

Thanks. Yes. I agree. May try again.
