Here is another recent Turkey image from the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma. Nikon D300, 600mm +1.4, ISO 800, f5., 1/1000.

This is not a behaviour we often see in photos for this species. Nice find to get one at a watering hole. Good iridescence on the bird, and I like the falling water drop letting us know this fella is thirsty. Messy surroundings, not much to do there (although you may wish to see if it is worth eliminating the bright stick behind the legs) but I would definitely work on a few of the OOF spots in the BG.

Nice iridescence in this bird. Captured the colours well.

Are these a wild bird - endemic to North America? can you eat them?

Tom: Yes, they are native to North America. There are several subspecies and fairly common in the South and Eastern United States. They are a very popular with hunters and good eating.
