This colorful leafhopper was photographed in Belize. I usually prefer more DOF, but thought I would share this anyway. 5D M2, MP-E 65 mm, 1/200, f/16, ISO 200, MT-24EX macro twin lite (diffused), hand held. RAW file PP in CS5 - curves, saturation. Cropped. I removed tiny bits of debris to clean up the leaf. All comments are welcome and appreciated.

Hey Stephen,
I too gnenrally prefer more DOF but your comp and focal point is excellent. Might go for a bit more lightening on the eyes.....but focus is where it needs it and it works overall nicely.

The head looks like a toy tiger! The dof is OK with me. I like the colors--orange against green--perfect! Nice composition and angle. Nicely done.

Pretty neat Steve.

I like it the way you've presented it but would probably crop off a bit from the bottom if it were mine.

Another very good showing!

I like the DOF the way it is. It puts the emphasis on this guy's friendly looking face.

Steve, nice capture! I think in this situation the shallow DOF works really well. Colorful little fella!

Steve:

I like the slightly tilted to the side leaf, sharp antenna, colors.

I wonder if you could lighten the face and eye on the insects right side, to try and match the left a bit more.

I see Norm's point on the crop, and would go just above your sig.

Fun!

Cheers

What a face! Other than a little bit of lightening on the left eye (bug's right eye), I wouldn't change a thing!

Very cool looking leafhooper, Steve. Awesome detail, color on the head, and DOF works with whole comp. Really like angle you have him at, and the fine detail on the leaf as well. Well done!
