Gorgeous light and great pose!

I am a bit thrown by the angle - I think the sloping line in the background compliments the birds pose well, but also makes me wonder if the camera is tilted --> is this intentional or was the perch on a hillside?

Well timed Vivaldo, and a typical take off posture from a PK. Is this a recent capture, as Im wondering what the action is like these days.

Jeff the BG is not intentional, it is a hillside. Stuart this was taken last year. I was there in Feb but it was very quite.Thanks for comments.

Is this the same place/bird/instant that we saw in another post recently by someone else? The light seems sweeter here. The pose is killer and sharpness is darned good. The detail in the near upper wing is too good.

Were you actively focusing and following the bird or did you pre-focus?

BKRG tones and patterning killer also.

Arthur this was taken at Mankwe Hide, Pilansberg. I seen a few similar shot taken their, mostly from the same perch. I used the camera's autofocus, got lucky. The higher aperture used F7.1 help get the Pieds face reassembly sharp. Thanks for comments :S3:

Beautiful image. I like the sweet light, sharpness and flight pose as mentioned by most here. It does look a tad contrasty to me.

Thanks Chris. The aperture was F5, a bit shallow I suppose. Maybe F8 would have been a better choice? Not complaining though :bg3:
