Hi Joshi, it is a lovely flower. It's unfortunate that one half has less light on it than the other. You could have solved this with flash or a reflector. Did you blur the BG in PP? It looks a bit unnatural, but on the other hand it creates a dreamy feel and directs focus towards the flower.

I used Simply Picasa To blur BG..and Try to focus on.. Direct Flower

Hi Joshi. This is a very colorful flower and I think there are a couple things you could try in the field to make an even stronger image. The focus appears to be on the red portion of the petals which leaves the center of the flower slightly out of focus. Ideally, you would want both the center and petals to be sharp. I think you will find that flowers typically look better when photographed in overcast light or in very soft sunlight. This should make for a more pleasing flower and a less distracting background. :S3:

Hey Joshi,
Very good advice by Steve above. When doing these types of macro images......take many images to make sure the focus is where you want it.....especially when hand holding. Just something to keep in mind for out in the field!

This flower is a Gaillardia or Blanket Flower.

Lovely colors and interesting petals. Good advice above. Practice is what will enable you to get the shots you want, and you certainly are practicing. Keep them coming.
