Another version of the falconers Goshawk. PP'ed with NX2 and CS3, removed a highlight from the eye, and a couple specks from the plumage, oh and a little bill cleaning (she had a bit of meat on the bill!). Wish I'd used f11! C&C welcome.

Handsome birds. Good choice of the BKGR. -3 stops on the flash might have been a better choice.

We've got a Goshawk in our neighborhood right now, but I've only seen it once. It's nice to see a species on BPN that doesn't get that much attention, especially one as beautiful as the Goshawk. This one gave you a nice pose. The red eye is incredible! I might give it another round of sharpening Dan.

Hi Dan, Love the red eye would go with bit of selective sharpening on it and I would also pull the mid tones down just a touch.

Thanks guys. The file seems to have lost a bit of sharpness upon upload? I will try another round of usm or NIK. Here's another with more usm and a little curves adjustment for the midtones.

Nice Pic!
Is this a hard crop or were you able to get that close to the bird?

Nice Pic!
Is this a hard crop or were you able to get that close to the bird? Thanks guys! Steven, this is about 90% of the original capture, the bird is a captive used for falconry and is perched on her owners arm, so yes, I was very close and very impressed with the shear size of the bird!
