This is a nesting female from the Palisades Cliffs of New Jersey. The image was captured at high noon with harsh light. Slight crop from full frame. 1D mark IV, 800 f5.6, 1/1250, f8 on gitzo/wimberley.

Wonderful comp. and diagonal lines. Tough light handeled well. A bit hot on the birds left side , but I'm sure you knew that already.

Great head-on look and I agree, tough light handled well.

Great capture of a spectacular bird. Love the wing angles and sharp eyes. Great job dealing with harsh lighting.

There is a real sence of purpose in the image. I like the front on look even if the left side is in shade.

I'm sure you would have preferred full frontal light on this guy, but still a fine head-on flight image of this swift flier. I like your chosen comp...
