Have been prepairing my Kingfisher walls again and hoping for a new nesting season. It is difficult after 3 harsh winters as numbers have dropped from 1200 pairs to around 150-200 pairs in our country.

Still having seen a Kingfisher in my own village recently and having heard several over at my old nesting sites i have good hopes for this Spring/Summer.

Here's one from the old files wich i had not yet processed...

greetings,

Jeroen Stel

Wonderful capture Jeroen. I like the comp, the colors, the sharpness, BG and behavior.

+1 on what others have said - great shot. The only thing I might try doing is to lighten up around the eye. I really don't know if that would be better or worse. I am just saying you might want to try it.

Real fine capture. My vote for a little brighter eye as well. Otherwise sweet just as it is.

I really like combination of the bird's rich colors and that beautiful background; it has a dreamy look to it.

Great colors, pose, background, sharpness and moment captured of course. I do think it's a bit tight on top and the perch is a bit big for the bird and takes too much space in the frame. JR

Good luck on your kingfisher project!!

Excellent image here. I love everything about it, but this spring/summer make a special request to these guys to pose with the head part of the fish facing this way!:t3
