Tern action along coastal South Carolina so practice action photos with 600mm IS Canon and relatively new 7D on tripod.

Charles, great image quality on this. Exposure and sharpness are right on, and the water is nicely rendered too.

You seem to have had fun with these guys Charles. Nice sharp flight action with water droplets adding to the action. Great detail in the whites and good eye contact. There seems to be a slight magenta cast.

Yeh the IQ is very good.

I always like to see image that are taken with the 7d as this is what I use.

That HA is spot on IMO.

+1 on the above comments - really nice image all-around. Excellent detail and exposure, the latter not that easy on terns, which have both deep blacks and whites. Not so sure about the vertical crop though, since the bird is moving horizontally.

Nice pose, details and exposure. Like the water droplets too. I would consider a horizontal crop.

Thanks for comments. My thoughts on vertical crop---it put the bird larger in the frame and created a diagonal from the tip of the wing through the body and image which I liked.
The original pic as you surmised was a horizontal.

The pose and wing extended look great! I like the little water drops coming off the birds.
