Nice use of a pleasing blue coloration and interesting shape going on with the water forming a shield. How many drops did you photograph?

Very cool water drop, Grahame. Like the shape & blue color, wondering if you have some frames where there's more contrast to the ripples at the bottom. Nicely done!

Hey Grahame,
Having done a few of these myself........I can help you a bit but will also ask that you post a few more specs (more than 1 flash, ISO, SS, what lens, crop?) etc.........because then I can go a bit further to help you along. Your sharpness looks pretty good but the softness can be from may things.....my first guess is ambient light......because of the reflection on the collision. Given the flash speed.....pretty safe bet there but it could also be due to your angle of view. Are you using "The Time Machine", "Stop Shot", or some other home made device? I have more questions than answers at this moment.....so once you answer them I may be able to help you along a bit more.

Hey Grahame,
OK.....here is a tip that may help you......firing flash at drop is not the best idea (as it appears you now know!).....but if you add ink or something to the water to darken or colorize.......less relfective. Black ink works great!
