Utter simplicity, and a cute, rainbow-y bird. I can just see some ripples, giving me just enough of a suggestion of real water. The kingfisher's not looking at us, and I'd treasure a shot in which he eye-contacted us, but then this shot is about a kingfisher biding his time; the downward look, therefore, is fitting.

I just love the colours in these guys and you have captured the crown colour and details very well Stuart. Agree with Craig, a fitting image and comp for this species.

These have great colors Stuart and you captured it against the sweet BG. You knwo I like my images tight....but this works as the placment is where it needs to be to pull it off! I'm not saying I wouldn't like it tighter too:bg3:.....but it does work very nicely as presented too. I'm not a HAP member:2eyes2:.....so I am fine with the little bit off.

The point of view gives the feeling that the Kingfisher is about to strike and the blue background complements the bird's gorgeous colors. The pleasing perch, negative space and sharpness all contribute to making me not wanting to stop looking at this image. Great post!

Beautiful image of a striking bird! Colors are outstanding. I do think though, that you could crop a bit from the left without compromising the feeling of space. To my eye, the current framing results in the bird being lost in an expanse of blue.
