The lighting and my camera position was just right for showing off the top of his wings. Would have been nice if he had turned his head toward me just a bit, but not a chance :). Taken Feb 9 near the Edmonds Ferry Landing, Edmonds, Washington.

You are right on the light - this seems a study of the closer wing. The head seems turned slightly towrds you as it flies away, which does help some. BG is blurred just enough.
Flying eagles are not easy to get perfect.

Thanks very much, Allan. I agree with you, perfection is pretty tough to achieve :). But
posting here and receiving helpful comments like yours, really helps to at least know
what perfection could be.

Hi Terry, some very nice detail in the wing here, like the wing down position. Agree with Allen on flying Eagles. Want to maintain the dark detail and not over expose the whites. All in all a very pleasing shot to view.

Hi Gary. The black and white thing is always a challenge in bright sunny conditions. Ahhhh, that elusive perfection. Thanks for commenting!

Nice to get these flightshots at eye-level Terry. Great light and detail as mentioned. Good eye, HA would have been fine if you managed the shot as he was approaching - something I have yet to achieve :S3: but will keep trying.

Thanks Pieter. You are right - I was just a few milliseconds late. Thanks for commenting!

Another beauty Terry. Yes it's angled away slightly but still a very nice capture. Love the water for the bg, we dont often get that here . Well done.

It's a powerful shot, and your blacks are beautiful, but he's flying away, and he's not looking toward you, and I just felt some of the air going out of the balloon. Also, the rump is getting hot--but that's something you may be able to do something about.

Thanks, Craig for commenting! I couldn't agree more - I may get some more chances later.
