I waited for what felt like ages for this European Roller to take off. They are summer migrants to our country, and this one was photographed in the Kruger Park.

I know the pose isn't ideal but I like that the eye is visible and clear and the under-wing detail is shown. Pity the perch is slightly in front of the bird. I'll keep this one until I land a better one.

Techs:
Nikon D300s with 200-400mm VR @ 400mm
f5.6 @ 1/2500 SS @ ISO-500

Your patience paid off. Lovely colors in the bird. I personally don't mind the perch, but would have preferred the near wing to be more raised, in an ideal world. As you say, this is a keeper until a better one comes along.

I like your attitude and your photo Morkel. I might punch up the saturation just a little.

Morkel, I too love the underwing detail and the pose is sweet too.

Very nice Morkel, like the wing detail, perch looks uncomfortable. :bg3:

I wondered about a hint of brightness/contrast & levels before adding any sat, but will be guided by Doug

thanks for the comments everyone...

Steve adjusting levels any more brings up noise in the under-body

I was thinking only of the rh slider, moving it in a fraction?

Nice job Morkel. Don't mid the pose, perch could hurt!. I'd keep this one too, even after you get a better one :w3. Well done.
