The original image was taken on February 20th, 2008 during a lunar eclipse. I tried different effects though I thought Fractalius worked the best. A bi-polar filter was added to saturate and boost the color after blending the frac layer with the original.

The original image was taken with an Olympus E-1 coupled to a Takahashi FC60 refractor telescope (1000mm 35mm equivalent) mounted on a tripod. At 1 sec, f8, ISO 200, the exposure was technically 1/2 sec too long to be done on a tripod without motorized tracking though the image only suffered slightly in sharpness.

Very cool Richard, the fract and polarizer filter were a good combination. Looks like the moon has been transformed into a new planet. Nicely done!

Very OOTB thinking! Love the Fractalius work and the simplistic look to the image. I'm wondering if it would look nice w/ a little off the top.:S3:

Hey Richard, this is some nice work with the frac plug-in. It looks like you combined the Moon and Mars. :S3:

I agree with Denise about cropping from the top. That would get the Moon closer to a ROT position.

Nice work Richard, it looks like Mars! I understand the mechanics of astrophotography and you did really well at this exposure. Nicely done!
