This is a beautiful woodpecker, and one that I'd not seen on my previous trip to Costa Rica. It's called a Hoffman's Woodpecker, and it's a fairly common species.

It is a very lovely bird Doug. Love the colors, detail and one I would like to add to my collection soon. They dont come to Fla though. :(

You're right, this is a beautiful woodpecker. I could go for a bit more room above and below, but everything else is super!

The bird is so sharp, and the colors are outstanding. I love the composition and the detail of the feet. I only wish for a little more space on the top.
