These birds have no color pigment whatsoever, they have some melanin in the feathers which gives strength. The colorful effect created by way the keratin in the feathers is layered. As light falls on the feathers the keratin layers reflect different wavelengths of light resulting is this amazing iridescent coloring.

Beautiful exposure, the yellow eye really contrasts against the nice glossy blues.

Superb shot amazing detail, I like the pose, the composition is I suspect optimal but I do wonder if a tad more head room and a little more space on the left would help, the bird is quite large in the frame.

Thanks folks...I was trying to show more of the detail thats the reason for the tighter crop. More space did cross my mind but decided on this as the end product. Thanks for the feedback

Excellent details and super colours. Not a easy bird to expose correctly and you did well.

Dumay beautiful image of this species. I agree with Chris not easy to get those colours exposed correctly, well done.
