This Canada goose was lifting off from the open water at the local bird sanctuary.
I liked the background and his pose.
D700 600mm f/4 at f/5.6 1/3200s ISO 640 Manual exp. Gitzo/Wimberley
Post: CS5 curves, selective sharpening, minor crop for comp
Thoughts and advice always appreciated

Great lighting getting all of the bird even like that. Wingtip - wingtip in sharp focus too, I can only dream of getting this sort of shot. Love the matching tones of bird and BG.

I find this imagine pleasing, Randy. The BG is quite complimentary to the Goose and has a painterly feeling. It's nice and sharp and well exposed. It does look like a climing flight shot which helps the wing position work.

Randy, excellent flight angle, with a good wing position. We get to see an underwing and detail from the top of the other wing. I do like the darker BG, together with the colours. Well captured.

I like it too due to the BG, good wing position and up and towards you flight. A favorite bird of mine.

Love the earth tones, subject isolation, wing position and perfect eye contact / sharpness.
