Another least bittern image from the other afternoon at Viera. A black bird had flown over him and got him all ruffled, but he stll remained out in the open for us:D. Taken with my D300 and Nikon 500, iso800, f7.1, 1/500, ec -.33

Hi Nancy,
Very nice image, love the intense colors and subject placement.. For my personal taste, I would clone out the green blade of grass that touches the head...:)

Big Congrats...

The light is very sweet and the birds plumge looks great.

Cant help but wish the bird was turned 180 deg.

Thank you Gus!:) The only problem about cloning out things, I find in this environment, then the reflections don't match and then you end up having to do too much cloning.

Thanks Robert:). He only ruffled his feathers once, that I saw, the whole afternoon, so unable to give it a go again.

Thank you Fabs!:) Yes, me too, about the head angle, for it was the only time I saw them with ruffled feathers! Harry and I even crawled closer on the bank and they still remained out!! It was really amazing!! This one is one of my fav's of the afternoon.

Gorgeous light on the bird and overall nice composition. I might be tempted to crop a little off the bottom to remove the reed floating in the water.
