These male ring necks can give some of the best looks. Image made at Nisqually NWR.
D300, 400 w/1.4tc, 1/400, f5.6, iso640, man exp. Cropped from horizontal. I know I could come in tighter, but remeber I am a lover of fg :bg3:
Thanks for looking, comments and critiques appreciated.

Nice eye contact and low angle. May need just a little rotation. Might also be inclined to take more off the bottom.

Quite the stare...this guy looks annoyed!:t3 Exposure looks good on this tough subject. The image does need CW rotation, and I personally don't think vertical was the way to go here. I'd eliminate about half the bottom space, and add some canvas at right (if you have it) - but if you love FGs as much as you do it may not be your favorite option...the one that really matters in the end.

I agree that the vertical here doesn't work for me but, in the end, it's what works for you! I like fog as well but my favorite pictures of these guys are in gorgeous light b/c that's when their colors really shine.

Todd, love the stare, and you have captured the head perfectly, to show both yellow eyes.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Re: crop choice, my main reason for going vert with this one was there were to many other ducks with less than desirable positions around him but I really liked his stare so I made a compromise comp wise.
Thanks again.
