Nice eye contact, good reflection, and pleasing sense of easy motion. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Bill. That's a very nice image. Nice blacks and a good head angle. The water has a milky quality which looks lovely. May I ask how you did that?

Yes the water does does have a very nice texture to it. I guess from a panning motion, but I would have thought at that ss camera motion would not be apparent?

Nicely exposed for such a large dynamic range.

Bill,

Greetings. Coots are pretty hard for the dynamic range and black feathers... I think you did a fine job. Good show!

I like the water as well... methinks DOF gives the effect.

Cheers,

-Michael-

Thanks for the comments. I didn't do anything the make the water that way! It is just a reflection of vegetation. I do wait for the bird to swim into an area where the colors seem interesting though. regards~Bill

Bill, Nice image, I just returned from Florida and had many encounters with Coots. They are lively and sure like to chase others around. I appreciate the blacks here and the wonderful BG. I really like the red eye the white beak and all the black this bird has!, Ann

There's nothing I love more than that sweeping feel to the water. How you pulled that off and still got the area around him to be so still is beyond me but great job! I also think you did a great job on the blacks - his head and neck are fairly dark compared to the rest of the image yet I can see feather detail throughout. Lovely image!
