My first outing with my Better Beamer flash extender - I'm impressed :)
Taken today (Sunday 1/30) in the Edmonds Marsh, Edmonds, WA, in fairly dark conditions. I think he was actually attracted by the flash - he took off and flew so close I had no chance for an in-flight shot.

Canon 40D 400 f5.6L 580EXII with Better Beamer 1/1000s f6.3 partial metering, flash ec +1 ISO 500 hand held very minor sharpening (eye primarily).

Like the colors in the bird and the nice clean background. Maybe just a little darker.

Thanks for your comment and suggestion, Dan. I am inclined to agree with you. I lowered the brightness a bit for the repost.

Nice pose by this guy Terry. It does have the flashed look to it. I don't have a bb but IIRC most often I see negative ec on the flash rather than positive as it is being used for a bit of fill. Different story if you are using it as main light. Maybe one of the bb experts will chime in here. Good luck with the bb, still have not decided if I will get one or not.

Thanks, Todd - I agree with the flashed look. I am just figuring out the fill flash. I'll be playing with it, but so far, with our dim light here in Seattle, I think it has some really nice possibilities for enhancing the lighting. And for $40 an inexpensive experiment :)

Many of my friends use a BB with great success. I guess you have to adapt your flash settings with that kind of toy.

Good luck with your experiments!
