Nikon D200 w/Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 vr lens @ 400mm, tripod mounted
ISO Equivalent 400; 1/180 sec @ f/7.1; MM -0.33

PS CS5 levels and curves were applied with modest cropping. Part of a thick branch beneath the bird's perch was cloned out.

Few countries in the world host a wider diversity of avian wildlife than Panama. The image of this colorful parakeet was captured near the Panama Canal.

Please let me know what you think about it.

Nice catch Norm. Love the colors, BG and the bird is nice and sharp. Might be nice to see a bit more canvas on the left for the bird to look into.

Lovely parrot. A female? don't see an orange chin. Nice angle and sharpness. Maybe the BG could be lightened a little to reduce the flash effect?

Nice bird and sharp. If you run a Linear Burn on the perch then the BKGR will not look so dark. The head is turned away from the line of the body and for me this is less than ideal.

I'd be happy to own this one, but as Artie pointed out, the attitude of the bird disintegrates the shot just slightly.

Beautiful bird Norm. I agree with Art on the HA, but also notice the bright perch and head. I would tone down the highlights there. TFS
