I've been hanging out a Greg Basco's house for the past couple of days doing some photography. Our workshop starts later today and I'm going to be pretty busy. So I thought I'd sneak in one image post before things get crazy. This Baltimore (Northern) Oriole was photographed in Greg's front yard this morning in some nice light. Makes me feel like Alan Murphy! :w

Hey, Doug. It looks good. Exposure is spot on -- great detail in both blacks and whites, and the background looks great, not to mention the sharpness. We don't get this kind of light here very often in Costa Rica, so I'm glad you were able to take advantage of it.

Cheers,
Greg Basco

Looks very nice. Nice bird, perch and background. However, at 1/1000 I'm in shock that you used a tripod:t3 Have a great workshop.

Super pose and HA, and well done with the exposure on the darker plumage. Im not familiar with the species, but if I can see good detail, then you have nailed it. Good overall sharpness too.

To Gary, Keith, and Nicki: wish you guys were here too! It's not the same without you! Thanks for the feedback Stuart. You'll have to make it out here someday too. :)

It's hard to hand hold a 500mm with a beer in one hand Keith! :)

Doug:

A beauty, wonderful techs, handsome bird, nice BG.

A very minor point, I would tone down the ascending branch where it heads out of the frame so it doesn't pull our eye out of the frame.

Have a great workshop!

Cheers

Beautiful light and sharpness Doug. I too wish I was there with the '09 alumi.
One question though...beer and not tequila? Things have really gone downhill since I've not supervised the duty-free shopping!
Congrats,
K:bg3:
