Wish i could have captured this with a bit lower angle.

Don:

Lovely bird, sharp, nice angle in frame.

Agree with self critique with shooting angle, lower would have helped with separating him from the BG.

Not seeing a lot of detail in the whites on the wing, possible recover some with a blend mode, either linear burn or multiply.

Cheers

Nice position of the bird, great wing color, the exposure looks good in terms of detail capture at both ends. I'm tempted to make 2 changes, brighten the exposure by 1/3 stop and crop some off the bottom and right. The reflection isn't all that strong and having the bird more or less horizontally centered doesn't feel right to me.

What a beautiful duck. Species? Location?

I'd be interested to see whether any of the details in the whites are recoverable.

Nice details on the plumage. That dark and white head looks tough to expose properly.

For those who asked, this bird is a male Blue-winged Teal.

Hi Don. This is a beautiful duck. Love the color and feather detail. It would be interesting to know if you can recover detail in the whites. I am having the same problem with high contrast subjects.
