I took this in December on a very rainy early morning trip to Squamish BC.
The owl was sitting quietly on a branch of a small tree in what I would say is a brackish tidal bay at the mouth of a small river. The area around the tree was flooded from high tides and/or rain and snow melt run off.
I think the size would be about the same as a Barn Owl or Short Eared Owl. It was not very big. It was raining quite hard and everything was getting soaking wet so I did not stick around but I think I have the size correct. It was not very big.
