On the way back to the parking lot at Vassar Farm in Poughkeepsie, New York, I saw a raptor sized bird sitting in the shade. As I approached, he took off to the top of a telephone pole in the last remaining sunlight of the day to show his color very clearly.
I think its a red-shouldered hawk, but this would be the first time I've ever seen one! Can anyone confirm? If its a red-shouldered hawk, it would be the 106th species of bird I've photographed in my county alone. :)
