Up close, with its beak open, this goose looks almost prehistoric to me. Those are bits of grass in his mouth he was munching on. Sat in mud a few feet away on chilly overcast, misty morning at local lake. (well, chilly for San Diego! lol) Softened BG, H&S, lightened eye area, NR

Feedback appreciated,

Brendan:

He does look pretty primitive!
He is sharp, like the open bill, misty feel to background.
Could stand a tad more room on right.

Main concern is that the image is pretty dark. I would consider bringing it up about 1/2 stop, and see how it looks. The whites should tolerate that fine.

Cheers

Here's the repost.

Lightened up a bit, and added bit of canvas on R.

Thanks Randy

It does look rather "Jurassic"! Nice comp, and I like the open bill and nice view of the serrations. I agree the image is dark and bringing it up in post would do wonders. A couple of the paler streaks could be toned down IMO (especially more-so if you raise the exposure).

Interesting looking bill, and I like the open bill showing the 'teeth'. I see in your repost, you lightened the whole image, I would only lighten the swan.

Thanks Dan and Stuart, I'll keep working on it

I see you reposted as I typed. The image does look better now, but there are areas that could be lightened more...fill-flash would have helped with that to start with.

Dragon Goose indeed, powerful profile with rich colour tones and good defenition. Nice image overall, TFS Brendan.

Well done Brendon that is one menacing looking pose I'd hate to get bitten by those teeth well captured and sharp.

James already said it. Those teeth and that eye have me backing away from the monitor.

Lol! Thanks for looking guys. Most of the time this one is very gentle and serene. Just don't get in its way during chow time!
