One of the reasons this image personally appeals to me is the way the head is framed with the wing in the back.
Technical: 1D4, 800, f/5.6, 1/160s, ISO 400.
Post: A little bit of cropping, tone curve adjustments, sharpening.

Aravind:
Just enough shutter speed to render the head and bill effectively sharp.
Dynamic pose, with the downstroke wings and calling, to give a sense of urgency here.
As far as tonality: I think the midtones are very realistic, while the darker feathers are probably a bit too dark. Makes for a dramatic image however.
Very effective framing.

Aravind,
I am with Jim on this , its a very dramatic image.
The colors are soft and relaxing, yet it screams emotion.
Well done,
Michael

Thanks guys. Yes the blacks were purposely pushed down both to create the required contrast against both the background and the head.

Aravind,
I have seen many blur images with subject parallel to sensor plane. This is very different. Like it.
