Thousands of Canada Geese winter in the town of Ft. Collins, CO. Even though they feed along the sidewalks and expect traffic to stop when they cross the road, if you point a camera at them they quickly walk or fly away. There were hundreds of geese on the lake at the local city park but only this one individual came to shore when a little girl showed up with a bag of bread.
Canon 40D, Canon 300 f4 L IS, ISO 400, f5.6, I/2500, handheld and sitting in the very cold mud.

C & C very welcome.

Nancy:

Excellent exposure with detail in the darks and lighter areas. Pleasant background, like the heads up pose.

Interesting that they are camera shy in Colorado. In my area of Michigan, they are so tame that you have to shoo them out of the way sometimes to take pictures of other birds.

Cheers

Very nice all around. Excellent exposure and sharpness, good comp and BG. I like the face pointing upwards a bit.

I have the same "problem" as Randy about these geese...and some are downright vivious when the young ones are around!

Very nice image and composition. Don't you love it when you get a nice soft and uncluttered background like that.
