During my recent trip to the Kruger National Park, we were at the Lake Panic hide capturing birds, when this guy swam slowly past the hide, and emerged from the water a little further on. This was more of a grab shot, as I was concentrating in another direction, thus not zooming out to leave space behind the tail. He moved pretty fast out the water. Extended the canvas slightly on the right. Taken late afternoon. The reeds 'coming' out of his back may be distracting to some, but I have left as natural as shot.

Looks like he has just finished lunch by the size of that belly. :D

Having a bit more to the lhs ould have been ideal Stuart, but if you were focusing on something else then to pan to this you have done well. Some good detail and the colours look spot on. IMHO I might be tempted to remove the diagonal reed on the top lh corner and the brown 'bits' above his head, not the snout, just for a bit more of a cleaner image. Reeds above the body are fine for me.

Nice grab shot Stuart :). Nice and sharp, with nice color and exposure. As you mentioned, a little more behind would be ideal. Well done.

Stuart,

That is one cool looking Croc.

I would agree you needed to zoom out and get the tail in or zoom in and get just head and part of torso. Here I am left wanting the tail.

Tail crop nit aside, you have some nice lighting and detail on this well fed croc Stuart.

Really like the detail in the scales and the colors look dead on. Wonder what's in that belly?

Stuart - I agree with your self-critique about the tail but well captured for a grab shot. Like the light and color. The reeds don't bother me either.
