Hi Carlo and welcome to Macro! This is an excellent image of a damselfly - talk about being "bug-eyed!" Ken has already mentioned the request for the specs on how you created this image. Was this one image or a stack? The area between the eyes and around the mouthparts seems to be soft - yet features in front and behind this area are sharp. Nice light and a good background. This could also work well as a vertical comp with the leaf on the right removed. I hope to see more of your work! :)

Thanks for including the specs, Carlo. (You should now be able to view your other threads. :) )

Carlo, the light on this looks good and the sharp areas look great! I don't mind the shallow DOF but it's just a little too shallow which is why those areas in the face look soft. Maybe going to f10 would have got the extra DOF needed. You should be able to improve this one by selectively sharpening those soft areas.

Keep posting those bug pictures! :)

Hey Carlo,
Welcome to the forum! You isolated the damselfly nicely and those are great eyes and a face. I agree with Ken on some of his suggestions to help improve this one. Just keep the depth of field (DOF) in mind when out in the field next time.

Welcome! I like this bug-eyed image. The shallow dof does not bother me. It makes the eyes dominate, and I like the details of the little hairs and the legs. Nice light and color. The only distraction for me is the leaf to the right. You could clone it out, or, crop it out.

Did you get your other threads to be visible?
