Red-breasted Merganser
Southern California

This large fish eating duck has a long serrated beak that helps these hunters to grab their
prey. I liked the look this one gave as it had a look of surprise I thought the pose was perfect for this type of presentation.

Thanks For Looking

You are having a field day this winter Jim! Love the eye contact and lighting on this image. Noise is well controlled for ISO 1000. Catching the wings in full downstroke would have been icing on the cake.

This guy looks like he's on a mission, and no doubt a very fast flyer. I like the detail and colour on the head, and agree a full downstroke would have been good.

Another beauty, Jim. You're on a roll. Question for the experts: would this benefit from just a tiny bit of contrast boost on the bird, especially the eye?

Like the colors, pose and apparent sharpness. I wonder if it could benefit from some room left and top but less from the right. JR

Sharp with an awesome expression :)
Really clean for iso 1000.
A bit more room on the left would look nice too.

I like the colours on another great DIF image James. Expression is priceless. I might agree with a little more room on top but like the position in the left of the frame.
