Hi Kaustubh,

I do like the wrap around wing position with gulls as it tends to show off the wing pattern a lot better. Great exposure with good detail in the feather pattern and colours, love the background.

Kaustubh,
This looks great to me. Exposure and sharpness look spot on---love the pose--it really draws you into the picture.

Kaus, excellent forward wing position, and I like the light and softer colours. The gull stands out nicely against the water BG.

Kaustubh:

Very nice, with excellent wing display, background.

Only minor point is I wish the bill tip didn't merge with the dark edge of the primaries. Difficult to get this pose without some merge.

Cheers

Hi, Kaustubh. Beautiful light and great pose and sharpness. The techs look right on to me with the 40D; that is, you might have considered more DOF but that would have put you past ISO 400 to maintain the good shutter speed you have, and the 40D isn't great past 400 IMO (I use one too).

I see Randy's point about the bill but as he said, this is a cool pose and lends itself to this kind of merge. I love the gray-brown reflections in the water as they really complement the bird well.

I would love to see a little more space all-around but since you already added canvas, I'm guessing you had one of those rare occasions where you had a bit too much focal length!

Cheers,

Great pose. The only way to improve it if the bird was banking more towards you while keeping the near wing in a similar position while separating the head from the far wing... Well, we can dream... and try again.

I think it's a bit tight and could benefit from more room around it. JR
