Taken in the Timbavati Game Reserve on an overcast morning. I love how graceful the giraffes are as they move.

Canon 50D
100-400 @105mm

f8
ISO 400
HH from a safari vehicle, no crop, contrast boost and USM applied selectively to giraffe.

C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

Rachel

Hi Rachel, they are very graceful, gentle and elegant, however have you ever seen them clash their necks against each other?

Might suggest just going back into curves an lightening the Giraffe only using an inverted curve. Seems just to lift it a fraction, like the color.

Good job getting the head clear of the trees. Good advice given by Steve above.

nicely captured Rachel...I love giraffes but have found them difficult to compose for, particularly in the thick South African bush as opposed to the plains of Central/East Africa.

I agree with Steve's suggestions as the giraffe is just a tad flat :)

Yep, looks better IMHO Rachel, but when you are doing this you need to look at the mask & the areas for any overlap. If you look towards the base of the legs there is overlap, as the vegetation is lighter in parts. :)

All the best.

Yeah Steve, I know. I just did it really quick and posted it. I just wanted to get the light and the color right as I had just recalibrated my monitor.

Thanks,
Rachel

Inquisitive characters. Good walking pose Rachel, and I like what you did to your repost. Have you noticed how their colours can vary so much. I have seen their colours from an 'orange' to a dark brown.

Thanks Stuart and yes, I have noticed how much their colors can vary. Sort of like people I guess.
