I made it to Arches with Nick Palmieri on Thursday evening looking to do night photography.....clouds had other ideas although we have been able to do some exciting day time stuff. This one was from this morning. As always.....when there is no water in the potholes....I bring my own! Clouds cleared for just a few minutes.
Canon 1D Mark lll with the 17-40mm lens at 19mm for 1/30 sec. at f22 and ISO 320. Laying on ground on ricebag and bean bag.
Saved at 67 quality to fit

Clouds and sun at Arches a great combo. Don't let the ranger see you filling the potholes.

Hi Roman, these are the moments that make your efforts pay off. The lighting is warm with an angry, dramatic sky. The water adds a whole other dimension to the image which makes it somewhat unique. The comp appears balanced and I just might add a small bit to the bottom. Very well handled:cheers:

Roman, Really nice cloudy skies and the lighting looks great. I think it's awesome how you created your own reflection. Fantastic work as always!!:)

Sweet on all counts. A bit more room on the bottom for me Mr. Tight. Please share the bring your own water details :)

Sweet picture. Love the mood with the dark clouds and the sun on the rocks. Reflection is very nice too. A beautiful place that I'd love to visit again. TFS.

Thanks all! No more room as camera was on the ground (rock) and couldn't back up as the sides sloped up and you lose the reflection.
Artie: most camping/sporting good stores carry collapsable 5 gallon water jugs. I fill up 2 of them so I can make a puddle/reflection whenever I choose....don't have to rely on rain!

Thanks Roman. So was this one of your puddles or a natural one?
