During the cleaning up of the Bosque del Apache NM. These little fellows seemed to be everywhere.

Man, his forearms look like Popeyes. Great head on shot with nice prairie in the background. Lovely tail symmetry as well. I sure wouldn't mind having this one in my files. Too bad about the veg right in front of his front legs. Mother nature sure likes to screw with us on these shots sometimes. Take care.

Like the way he is centred and looking at you with his tail fanned out nicely. Good inquisitive expression. Shame about the oof foreground intruding but should be easy to tone down. Fine image.

Very nice pose, never really noticed it before but it looks quite similar to a Honey Badger. Little bits of grass are a bane to photographers everywhere.

I would try to give it a little more oomph and a tad more sharpening.

Pretty strong little beast.:-). Love the pose and the low angle. I'd try to sharpen the face a bit more too. Well done.

Great to see some more diverse animals on here Gary.

Would agree on Hilary's assessment, but would also liked to have seen this in portrait, as the pose/stance just seems to cry out for that format to me. :)

I like the head on shot, together with the bushy tail. Another vote for some sharpening.

Agree with the comments above, nice to get a head on view like this.

Hi Gary,
Looking at that pose makes me think you should run away as fast as you can!!

Handheld 600 @ 125th way to go! Good sharpness, like the pose. The angle is good, but if you were able to get a little higher it would eliminate the foreground vegetation.

I agree with the others, nice head on pose with the fanned out tail. Like Ken, I was struck by how much the face looks like a badger.

One you don't get to see posted often for sure. Good comments above. Agree with Steve as this looks like a perfect candidate for portrait mode. Nice capture.

nice one Gary - great POV, low angle and eye contact. I echo the sentiments regarding portrait crop and a little apparent softness which should both be easy to sort out :)

Anybody get sprayed? I like the centered COMP and the raised tail. Bummer on the foreground vegetation as Danny said.....

Hand held how? Braced???? I cannot imagine making a sharp image of a static subject at 1/125 without bracing the lens on something.....

I shoot with Doug Brown so I'm afraid of using a tripod and being called a "wimp", so I used my knee.

Great eye contact and I really like the way the tail is fanned out.

Cool image, and I Love the raised tail and stout posture..but as posted the image does not appear sharp to my eye. We all have different stabilizing limits and it typically varies depending upon excitement, fatigue, etc. As with most of photography using a tripod can mean a compromise, but I would prefer having the option. There are no definitives!! I would rather have been called a whimp :)

Best,

Chas
