Mrk IV, FF, ISO 400, f/7.1, 1/400, +0.33 ev, 100-400@400, sitting on the cold ground with my elbows on my knees.
The spots on the ewe’s neck are burrs. This image was made on McMinn Bench, YNP in the late afternoon in mid Nov. under overcast skies that were spitting snow. Sharpened with minor adjustments in curves & levels.

Andrew,

I think this could have been greatly improved if you had been a lot further right as this may have opened up the angle to get more of the lambs head in view. Otherwise a nice "behaviour" shot with soft light, and detail.

Nice soft light, exposed well with good detail. Agree with Ken re: big move to right. As is I think this image would benefit from a crop from left and above. Nice moment captured, hope you got more of the action.

Thanks Todd & Ken. I wish there was time to move to the right. This behavior happened in an instant. The ewe moved away from the lamb immediately after I shot this image. The lambs are weaned & the ewes are somewhat impatient with them when they try to nurse—especially since they are entering estrous.

Andrew,

Thanks for the explanation, when you look again you can see that it is a pretty large "baby".

Andrew - still a tender moment captured (even if it wasn't as tender as it looks). Nice light and I agree on taking some from the lhs.
