Green-winged Teal
Southern California

Well I took this shot a few weeks ago as I haven't had many oppt. with this species this winter... It was a cold windy rainy morning when I captured this shot I like the winter feel to it.

Thanks For Looking

Wow. Another killer image. I don't even need fancy 3D glasses to have the impression that the teal is about to come out of my screen... :) Agree with you about the winterly feel.

Thanks for answering my question about handholding. Very impressive tracking skills you have using a tripod. What setup do you use? JR

Thanks Joerg :) Lens Support: Gitzo Studex Pro ,Leveling Base and WimberelyII I'm not sure
of the model of the legs but I think they are the biggest and heaviest made.

What a stunning image. I agree that it pops off the screen. Angle is perfect, details too.

I can vouch for that! :) Tack sharp with great eye contact.

James, a stunner. This species is so hard to catch in flight. The sharpness is as good as a non-flight shot. Perfect angle and placement of the subject in the frame. I like the wing blur as it shows the speed with which they fly.

Another superlative image. The water droplets are an added bonus. Outstanding!!

James, great 3D effect here, and I like the colours on the head. Lovely complimentary colour to the BG.

The background makes it look like he is flying at 30,00 feet. The blue-wing teal is a nice looking bird but the green-wing teal is always a great catch for photographers. Beautiful merganser-cream patch on its rear flank and cool the way the legs and feet are tucked away like a landing gear on a jet, but that makes sense at 30,000 feet. Nikon marketing should use you as their poster person for the D300S!

What a killer image! The eye is tack sharp and the body full of details. Only thing that would have improved this would have been the far wing up higher...but man, very impressive...

Very impressive, James; that D300S seems to be working very well for you.
