You could try Hunt's Photo, I have never had a problem with them (or B&H).

Thanks...I'll check out Hunts...

The reason I'm not buying it from B&H is...I recently ordered over 2K worth of gear from them and when the box arrived it had a hole big enough to stick your head in and you could see all the items inside with two small pieces of bubble wrap...the box was way too large and flimsy and it was clearly evident that they did not even try to pack the items in any way to protect them... I just can't bring myself to spend this kind of money on a lens and have to worry about it getting here undamaged due to poor packing.

Thanks...

Give Gary Farber at Hunt's a call and tell him that I sent you. Then make sure he beats the B&H price <smile> When shopping for large items always comparison shop and always make sure that you are not gonna get ripped off on shipping...

later and love, artie

Allen's Camera in Pennsylvania is outstanding. I've ordered numerous lenses and bodies from them. They have a simple website with only a couple phone numbers but they provide outstanding service. They are usually slightly less expensive than B&H as well.

In the four years since I've taken the dive into digital photography, I've only ever ordered from Canoga Camera, except for a few rare instances when I needed something overnight and they were out of stock. I found them through a Web search and phoned them to talk things over before buying my first digital body and high quality lens.

Their prices are among the lowest on the Net, their shipping is reasonable and their service is excellent and fast.

Another vote for Allen's! :) Website has been 'coming soon' forever, but just give him a call. I've even had him ship me something quickly out to Bosque when I needed it.

As Heather stated, service is excellent and prices are great. Have fun with new lens! :)
