Really nailed this one.
Pose, focus, bg and composition look as good as it can get.
Nice dof as well.
I am only starting to use flash but this also looks very well done.
If mine, I might bring the midtones down a bit just to see.

Lovely image, Joel. Very nice comp on this and the exposure is very good - the whites seem creamy and full of detail so great job there.
If anything to improve I guess I'd say more of a view of the tail would be nice. As is it feels a little disconnected from the rest of the body. Still a very strong image IMO. Nicely done!

Nice image. FYI, the bird is a female Purple Finch. The face pattern, form and color of the breast streaks, and bill shape all point to that species rather than House Finch.

The only thing I can add is - for my taste, I'd like to see the subject smaller in the frame with a little more tree trunk. IMO this would make an excellent image even stronger.
