During our 4 weeks in Kenya & Tanzania we were fortunate to witness 7 good crossings, fortunately most of them occurred on the less crowded Serengeti side.
One example of this was a breakaway group of wildes who decided (for reasons unbeknown only to them:p) it was best to cross at the most inaccessible sections, resulting in some comical leaping. Used a CP filter on the 500 to try and help combat the harsh lighting/reflections on the river.

D3s 500VR +CP filter 1/320s ISO400@f/5.6 Mara river Northern Serengeti, Tanzania Oct 2010.

C & C most welcome

Cheers

Marc,

Once one goes most follow, there are nice gentle slopes but why use them. The one in the middle of the left hand side seems well stuck.
Would have preferred either more or none of the milling throng at the top.
The actual jump is excellent:cheers::cheers:

All the better for us photographers Ken! :D

I really like this angle, Marc.

Different from a number of crossing images where you always feel like you looking down at your subject.

Nice to see a different perspective as Russell mentioned. Exposure and sharpness look good, agree with Ken re. the milling group top center. Well done.

Nice timing on the leap Marc. I like the line created by the wildebeests from the top (although I'd like to see more full bodies) leading down to the leaping one, and then those already in the water.

Great action! Like how you caught that one wildebeest in mid-air. Looks pretty chaotic!

Great mid air leap. Pretty difficult not to crop animals in half given the sheer numbers so I think you've done pretty well here.
