Congratulations Stuart Bowie for your image "African Wattled Lapwing" being selected as the Avian Image of the week ending 10/22/2010!!!
1. Whilst out shooting bee eaters two weekends ago, I happenned to wander into this guys territory. There were chicks around, as we had seen them earlier. Their behaviour is to fly into the air, make a huge racket, and 'dive bomb' any intruders to hopefully ward them away from the chicks. I captured this angle, as he was turning around to dive bomb me. Taken late afternoon.
