I haven't posted here in a while... I took this earlier in the week close to sunset. Settings were -
7D, Sigma 50-500mm @ 500mm hand held
1/3200 sec, f/8 Mode: Av Metering: Evaluative Exp comp: -1 ISO: 800

A classic pelican shot with the wings in a position to show some feather detail inside and out. I really like the color across the top of the beak....such a beautiful, light red. I also love the feather color on the head which is the same color I see on parts of the hooded merganser's down. Nice catch.....although I wish the eye had a little more light on this one.

Well exposed, nice angle in frame, excellent full down flap. As Danny mentioned, nice to see both dorsal and ventral wing surfaces well illuminated.
I might consider a bit more space below.
