Taken earlier this year with a Nikon D3 and 24-70mm, long exposure on a tripod, I normally keep it below 30 seconds to allow auto metering.

Love the low perspective here Tim, along with the silky sheen rainbow coloured reflection on the water.

Hey Tim,
I love the colors of the OP and am OK with the comp and the darker area on the bottom....but I really like this with a god portion of the bottom off.....more to a pano....cutting from the bottom to where the longest light reflections start almost fade off (about 1/2 inch below sand on left).....this emphasizes the pier for me more and gives it it's rightful attention. In either case though.....handled very well and it's a nice luxury to have options on the crop!

Agree with above. Colors on the water are great I think a pano would make it much stronger.

Hi Tim, Beautiful image! The color, tone and soft lighting make this for me. The composition as posted or cropped to a pano is beautiful both ways. This was skillfully handled!!

How about this crop, puts the peer on the thirds?

I like it better than the OP.....but still would think I would like the pano also. Nice luxury to have 2 strong presentations!!!! Remember....some people don't like pano's!!!....so personal choice there!

I like the pano better! It's a very strong image and I love the color and sweet water!

Tim,

I like the second post you did. Even though a tight pano would make the pier rock, so do it, I like the deeper FG in the second post and the graduation of color from FG to BG.
