I really had no plans to post this, but after seeing Roman's photograph from the Norris Geyser Basin, I just had to share. Evidently we stopped at the same thermal feature for a photograph (mine is from late June `07). :)

I really like how the swirl of color leads your eye into the scene, and that there is interest throughout it as well from the texture in the foreground to the puffy clouds in the sky. Great composition and striking colors.

Hey Judd,
I recognize the spot! Beautiful shot! It shows others what I was dealing with as the right side in your picture adds to the composition while if I included it in my shot with the clouds....it would have left a very big expanse of gray. I think otheres should compare to see that we can see the same thing.....yet differently. http://www.birdphotographers.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7198
Very well done,
Roman
PS I did use the circular polarizer on mine but didn't max it out. It was very dark but the split 3 stop ND allowed me to get that much light on the foreground as I was laying down on the boardwalk.

Judd,

Excellent composition. You worked it out really well. Besides a leading line the draw someone into the image, you give us one with great color. Then you get to the stellar Middle Ground and BG. Nice work.
