this was taken just outside raleigh, nc at an old grinder mill that is now a city park. it's a great place to visit. very peaceful:)

nikon d300, sigma 50-500 at 370mm, f/6.3, 1/200s, -1.3EV, ISO 400, tripod and flash (for some reason?)

gave it the b&w treatment. hope you like it. thanks for looking and i appreciate your comments.

Nice scene Harold...does look quite peaceful. I wonder what was off to the right. Could you have given the old mill a little more room in that direction? It also might be personal preference, but I think I would increase the contrast (with a levels adjustment, altering both black and white point sliders). I was once told that a good B&W should contain all 'colors' from pure black to pure white. Rules are made to be broken, but I usually try such a strong contrast B&W in Photoshop and am usually pleased (sometimes I do back off a bit). :) Nice work!

thanks oscar. and judd thank you too. off to the right is a stop light, road and powerlines. had to frame it this way to make it look as old as possible. i'll give the contrast adjustments a try.

that's 21 points of contrast only. i like it. was worried it would take away all the fog, but it still shows it in the bg.

Hah! I'm not a real fan of B&W ages for the most part but this is lovely and suits so well. Really like the contrast bump too!!!
Very, very nice mood and image Harold.

I like the composition, Harold. Nice image - how does it look in color?

bruce, i thought it was fairly bland considering it was winter and there were no leaves on the trees. just not enough color so i decided to go all the way with it.

thanks nonda!
