Sandhill at Bosque last week. Limited number of cranes and almost all flew shortly before or after sunrise--hence the high ISO image.

wonderful stuff Bonnie. Love the elegant pose, and there are plenty of details I can see for ISO2000. Did well here I reckon. Thanks for sharing. :)

Beautiful moody image Bonnie, feather detail and colours are gorgeous and nice low angle. What support were you using 800mm @ 1/60 has produced a very sharp image.?

Bonnie:

The rich, harmonious colors make this one for me. Noise well handled. Agree with Pieter, impressive sharpness for this rig and settings.

One minor thought. I might consider darkening the reflection band at the very bottom of the frame. For some reason I see it as a barrier to my eye moving back into the image. Subtle, but just how it struck me.

Besides the cranes, how were the other birds at Bosque?

Cheers

Randy

Thanks for your comments guys.
Peter, nothing special, just a Gitzo tripod and a Wimberly head.
Any movement produced an unsharp image. Just got lucky. The
800/5.6 is a marvellous lens.
Randy, birding was very slow last week. But numbers were definitely
Increasing every day.

Hi Bonnie! I really enjoyed photographing with you and the others at Bosque. This is a lovely capture. That camera lens combo has me drooling :). (I'm still sorting thru my photos.)

Hi Nancy,
Likewise, it was so nice to meet you and Chuck. Wish we had a few more birds to work with, but all in all it was great.
I have not gone over my images too much either, but I see a few keepers.

Simply Super shot even at low lighting amazed at the high ISO results of Mark IV. Also like the stare of the bird here.
