Honk if you like geese

Following Doug's lead on photographing common species. Not much else to shoot when I'm standing around my local lake hoping for an eagle fly-by, so I practice on these guys. Captured this in late afternoon light; cloned out part of another bird, adjusted levels and slight crop from left and bottom.

Common birds are a great way to hone your BIF skills. Great light, wing position, exposure and sharpness Bill! Like the open bill too. I'm on the fence about desaturating the sky a little.

I like everything about this one except the dark blue sky. Lighter and less SATed would be great.

I love working common birds too!! Great straight up wing position, and the honking pose is neat. There is a different shade of blue just showing between the base of the top two primaries...not sure where that would have come from.
