Is this your Whimbrel? As for the image, I love it, the soft light, the slightly open bill in the water pose, and the perfect head and body angles. I would lighten the dark and middle tones just a bit. Plus a bit off the bottom for me.

The water makes this one for me, the flow and the tiny droplets. Lovely. Catches the character of the species well. And I like that it is busy feeding and not just standing.
European Whimbrel has fewer rusty tones than the NA bird and a white rump and underwings. People are coming around to it being a different species than the NA form.

Thanks for the info JJ. They go look quite similar while feeding. I think that a few have been IDed on this side of the pond based on the white rumps.
